I've been following the updates about Devin Parker Jr.'s tragic death, and my heart goes out to everyone who knew him. A detail that caught my attention was about the response time of campus security and local law enforcement the night of the shooting. Some students have mentioned online that there seemed to be a delay in their arrival, which might have prolonged the chaos and confusion in Williamson Hall. It's alarming to think about potential gaps in emergency response protocols at a place where students should feel safe. I’m not sure if this has been discussed enough, but timely response is so crucial, especially in situations involving firearms. Hopefully, the administration at Lane College will take this incident seriously enough to review and improve their procedures.
