I’ve been following the case of Sergio Agon Mejia, and I just can’t shake off the thought of how terrifying it must have been to be in that vehicle when the shots were fired. One element that stands out to me is the fact that it happened so abruptly – just a regular evening shattered by such senseless violence. The randomness of drive-by shootings is just so unsettling. It got me thinking about how this affects the witnesses too. Were there enough people around who saw it? Do they feel safe coming forward? I know community support is crucial in these investigations, but fear can be such a powerful silencer. My heart goes out to Sergio’s family in Colombia and everyone who knew him. This kind of violence leaves scars on everyone involved. I hope anyone who knows anything feels safe enough to come forward so justice can be served.
