In the summer of 2018, a dispute at a Greeley, Colorado apartment complex escalated into a fatal encounter that claimed the life of 46-year-old Edward Boyle Jr. The male victim was found with a gunshot wound in the early morning hours of July 28 at the Village Green Apartments on 26th Avenue. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a heated argument between two men near the entrance of the apartment complex just before a single gunshot rang out. Initial descriptions of the suspect indicated a teenager, who was reportedly accompanied by a group of four or five other young males. The Greeley Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting, searching for the young man they believed was responsible for Boyle's death.
After several months of investigation, authorities arrested 18-year-old Leonardo Biorato in December 2018 in connection with the murder. In November 2019, Biorato pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder. The following January, the now 19-year-old was sentenced to 32 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections, with a subsequent period of mandatory parole.
