I'm feeling really shaken after reading about Rachel Counts' tragic death. From what I understand, she was simply enjoying a night playing cards with friends when things went horribly wrong. It’s so awful to think that a night meant for fun and bonding could end in such a tragedy.
I was particularly struck by the demeanor of some of the people who were there. I can't even begin to imagine the shock and trauma they must be experiencing. Being there when something so unexpected and violent unfolds must be a nightmare. I hope they are getting the support they need right now.
Also, I find myself thinking about the implications of such reckless behavior with firearms. It's mind-boggling how easily this horrific scenario unfolded simply because of a senseless decision. I understand everyone makes mistakes, but this kind of carelessness with a weapon is beyond comprehension.
I'm sending thoughts of strength and resilience to Rachel’s family and friends. It's essential for the community to rally around them during this incredibly difficult time.
