I've been following the UW–Platteville case, and my heart truly goes out to Kelsie Martin's family and friends. I can't stop thinking about the timing of it all. Just two days after graduation, a time that should have been filled with celebration and hope, this tragedy struck. It’s so distressing to see a young life, full of potential and achievements, being cut short right on the brink of starting a new chapter. Having recently graduated myself, I can't help but feel shattered thinking of the emotional whiplash her classmates must be going through — shifting from celebration to mourning in an instant. Kudos to the university for stepping up with counseling and support services. This community has undergone an unimaginable ordeal, and it's essential to come together to heal and remember Kelsie's impact on the lives she touched. Sending warmth and support to everyone affected during this challenging period.

I've been following the discussions about Kelsie's tragic death, and my heart truly goes out to her family, friends, and the entire UW–Platteville community. I wanted to focus on something that hasn’t been talked about as much—the impact on Wilgus Hall residents who witnessed the immediate aftermath. I can only imagine what it must have been like for students living there, dealing with the fear and chaos as emergency responders arrived. It's not something you ever expect to happen in your dorm, which is supposed to feel like a safe haven. I've read that the university has been proactive in offering counseling services, which is crucial. However, I think it’s important to also acknowledge the longer-term effects an event like this can have on students' mental health. It’s not something that just goes away once the immediate threat is over. I hope the university continues to support these students in the months and years to come. If anyone here has connections to UW–Platteville or knows students who were directly affected, I’d love to hear how they’re doing and what we, as a community, can do to offer ongoing support.
