I've been following the case of Joseph Lewis, and I can't stop thinking about how something like this even escalates to the point of no return. It's tragic to hear about a life lost over an altercation that started at a Dollar General of all places. While the authorities might have ruled it as an act of self-defense, I wish there had been a way to deescalate the situation before it got to the point of using a firearm. It's just baffling to think about how a dispute can spiral so quickly. I imagine the shock for both families involved must be immense, and I genuinely feel for them. Hopefully, we can all learn something about conflict resolution so that tragedies like this can be avoided in the future. It's a tough reminder of how fragile life is and how important it is to address our disputes without resorting to violence.
