I've been following the case of River and Jet Collins, and one detail that really stands out to me is how River's love for music seemed to touch so many people. It's clear he brought a lot of joy to those around him, especially through playing the baritone saxophone. From what I've read, his performances were often the highlight of school events, and several classmates described him as someone who could tell a story just by playing his instrument. It makes me think about how important the arts can be in providing a sense of identity and community, particularly for young people. River used his music to connect with others, leaving a lasting impression on his friends and teachers. It's just devastating to think that an environment of fear and violence ultimately overshadowed what should have been a bright future. My heart goes out to River, Jet, and their mother, along with everyone else who knew and loved them. The community has shown incredible strength in rallying around River's mom, and I hope she continues to receive support in her journey towards healing. If anyone has ideas or suggestions on how we might further support families in domestic violence situations, especially when there are kids involved, please share. No one should have to endure such pain and loss.
