I’ve been following the case of Camilo and Nancy Acosta, and something's sticking with me that's unsettling. I keep thinking about the role of the neighbors in situations like this. I've lived in small apartment complexes before, and you often hear everything that happens next door. It makes me wonder if any neighbors heard something that night but maybe didn't realize what it was or were afraid to come forward. Noise complaints and disturbances seem common in tight quarters, but how often do we ignore them? It’s sad to think that perhaps someone heard signs of distress and didn’t report it, not knowing it could have helped. My thoughts are with the witnesses in the unit, too—what they must've experienced is beyond imagining. Hug your loved ones a little tighter, everyone. I'll definitely be thinking twice next time I hear something strange next door.
