Bobby Butler, aged 55, was shot and killed on November 22, 2010, in Chicago while attempting a heroic act. On the evening of the incident, Butler was walking home from the Central Park L station in Lawndale when he witnessed an armed robber accosting a young woman for her purse. Butler tried to intervene, shouting at the assailant and crossing the street towards him. Tragically, the robber responded by shooting Butler in the chest.
