Hey everyone, I've been closely following the tragic case of Leothis Daniels, and something that's been on my mind is the role that community spaces like Stoepel Park play in our neighborhoods. It's so troubling to think that a place meant for families, friends, and relaxation can become the setting of such violence. I often hear about parks being areas where people try to escape daily stress or find some peace, and it’s incredibly sad that this horrific event shattered that sense of safety. In the wake of this tragedy, I hope there will be discussions on how to make these spaces safer. Leothis, and everyone affected by gun violence, deserve more than just being remembered—they deserve lasting change that could prevent such incidents in the future. My heart goes out to Leothis's family and friends who have been plunged into grief and to Julian Hill for the long recovery ahead. I’m curious if anyone here has seen positive initiatives in their areas that have helped deter crime in public spaces. Maybe there’s something we can learn from those examples? Stay safe, everyone.
