In light of everything that's surfaced regarding Dereon's case, I've been mulling over the position of the authorities on this. The decision to dismiss charges against Makel Harris on self-defense grounds is really stirring up mixed feelings for many of us. I can only imagine how Dereon’s family must be struggling with this outcome. It makes me think about the broader implications of "self-defense" and how, in this instance, it overshadowed what feels like such a brutal loss of life. The uncertainty around whether others involved will be charged only adds to the turmoil. With multiple people reportedly involved, it just doesn't sit right that no further actions seem to be on the horizon. Understanding the legal standpoint on self-defense is one thing, but reconciling it with what these families are experiencing is entirely different. My heart goes out to Dereon’s loved ones. They deserve to see some form of justice or closure for what happened that night.
