I've been following Angelo Smith's case ever since it happened, and one thing that's been on my mind is the neighborhood's response, or lack thereof, after the tragic event that morning. I grew up in a tight-knit community where a sense of solidarity was our strength. I'm curious about how the residents of West Pullman are coping and coming together in the wake of such violence.
It's so jarring to think that this peaceful block turned into a scene of chaos in literally minutes. I imagine waking up to the sound of gunfire must have been terrifying, and I hope the community finds a way to support one another through this. Has anyone heard if local leaders or neighborhood groups are organizing any vigils or meetings to discuss safety concerns? Angelo's family deserves some answers and justice, and I believe community solidarity can play a pivotal role in not just healing, but also in pressing for a resolution. I’ve been thinking a lot about the fear and chaos that must have gripped the West Pullman neighborhood on that morning in June.
