I’ve been following Joan Conetta’s case for a while now, and one detail that keeps puzzling me is the unconfirmed sighting near Route 530. It's been years, but I wonder if anyone remembers seeing her around that area. It's a busy road, and I’d think someone driving or living nearby might have spotted something back then. Did law enforcement ever get traffic camera footage from that time? Even though it’s a long shot, sometimes businesses nearby have outside cameras that catch more than they intend. It’s strange there’s still no trace of her, especially with such a significant sum of cash and the Beretta. With her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, it’s heartbreaking to think how vulnerable she was. If she did manage to get help from someone, whether accidentally or willingly, it’s odd no leads have come through. Anyone on this forum from the Whiting area who remembers anything more about the general atmosphere or rumors around the time she disappeared? It sometimes helps to jog memories, even this many years later.
I'm really puzzled about Joan Conetta's disappearance, especially considering her familiarity with the area. If she was frequently walking to the Crestwood Village Shopping Center, you would think someone would have noticed her on that route. The unconfirmed sighting five days after she was last seen makes me wonder if she was still trying to get to familiar places. It's unsettling that there haven't been any leads from the community or activity on her bank accounts. Could it be possible she decided to head somewhere completely out of character? Often folks with Alzheimer's may act on past memories, so maybe she was trying to get to a place that once meant something to her, even if it wasn't nearby. I hope someone still remembers something, no matter how small, that could help bring some answers.
