A domestic dispute in Haubstadt, Indiana, ended with multiple deaths on May 29, 2025. Alma Tapia Waite, 61, was found fatally shot in the kitchen of her Scottsdale Drive home. Her 81-year-old mother, Gloria Tapia Garcia, and her 39-year-old son, Fernando Tapia Ramirez Sr., were found dead in the den. A second son, Juan Tapia Ramirez Jr., survived gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.

Authorities say Alma’s 77-year-old husband, Patrick Waite, called 911 after the shootings, told the dispatcher he would wait unarmed in the garage, and surrendered when officers arrived. A .45 caliber handgun was recovered from a lawnmower. The dispute reportedly centered on ownership of the house after Alma filed a quitclaim deed transferring the property into her daughter’s name amid talks of separation. A child who witnessed the shootings escaped to an upstairs bathroom with two other adults who were unharmed.

Patrick Waite has been charged with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder; a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf and he is being held without bond. Does anyone have information about the family or that neighborhood on Scottsdale Drive that could help investigators?
