Has anyone else been curious about the potential routes James McDonald might have taken on his kayak journey? The Suwannee River offers several pathways leading towards the Gulf, and considering James's experience, it seems reasonable that he might've had a well-structured plan in mind. Given the sighting on October 14 by the park ranger, it seems like he was headed towards Ochlockonee Bay.
I've been looking at maps and from Suwannee, he could have stopped at numerous points along the way like Apalachicola or even St. George Island. Has anyone done any research or analysis on the water currents or typical conditions on that route around October? That info might give insights into where he might have been aiming to rest or gather supplies. Any locals here who kayak the area regularly and could share what it’s like around that time of year? It might help in piecing together his plans if any conditions or stops were more favorable or inviting for an outdoorsman on a solo trip.
Does anyone have more information on the specific kayaking routes along the Suwannee River and Ochlockonee Bay? I'm wondering how plausible it is that James McDonald could navigate those routes unnoticed for such a lengthy period. Considering he was last spotted by a park ranger near the Ochlockonee River, it seems like he was well on his way. But it's puzzling—how did he manage to vanish so completely without a trace? Could he have intentionally changed course? Also, I'm curious if anyone knows about other spots where he could have docked or camped along that stretch. Any seasoned kayakers here who might have insights into what he could have done or where he might have gone if he didn’t stick to the known paths? Seems like there are just too many questions with not enough answers.
