I’ve been following the case of Shari Kaye Knutzen, and it’s so tragic to see how domestic violence can escalate in such a horrific way. From what I’ve read, Shari had just initiated divorce proceedings on the very day that she was killed. It's unsettling to think about how this was such a dangerous period for her, something that advocacy groups have been warning about for years. Breaking free from an abusive relationship is one of the most courageous things someone can do, yet it unfortunately can also be one of the most perilous times. It’s important for us to shine a light on this risk in hopes of preventing future tragedies. My heart truly goes out to Shari’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. They’ve lost a loved one in such a senseless manner, and I hope they find some semblance of peace and justice as the case proceeds.
