I was reading about the tragic events that transpired at the Puppy Creek Family Fun Center, and one aspect that stood out was how truly tight-knit and supportive the Hoke County community seems to have been back in 1994. It's clear that Steve Locklear was loved by many. I've read accounts of how friends and neighbors rallied together to support Steve's family, helping them with everything from organizing vigils to simply being there to offer comfort during such an unimaginable time. Losing someone so young and full of potential is a tragedy for any community, but the way people came together to honor Steve's memory and support each other was truly moving. It's moments like these that highlight the strength and unity of a community, even in the face of senseless violence.
