I recently came across some details about Cynthia Halk's case, and I can't get over the tragedy of her final moments. It's haunting to think that she was last seen by her family at Provident Hospital. They entrusted her care to a place meant to provide safety and healing, yet due to some failure, she never made it back to them. As someone who has worked in healthcare, I know firsthand how chaotic hospitals can be, but it breaks my heart thinking about the family waiting for that call that never came. Her epilepsy made her vulnerable, and to be met with such a horrific end... it just feels like such a deep injustice. It’s a call to remember how crucial it is for those with medical needs or living on society’s margins to not fall through the cracks. Her life mattered, and she deserved so much better. My thoughts are with her loved ones who had to endure this nightmare and are still seeking solace.
