Has anyone else been thinking about the courage it must have taken for Severson's friends and family to speak up during the trial process? Even though Alvin Taylor was eventually deemed incompetent to stand trial due to his mental health issues, the bravery of those who came forward should not be overlooked. Facing the man responsible for taking their loved one away, all while dealing with their own grief, must have been incredibly difficult. They played an essential role in making sure James's story was heard and his memory honored, even when the legal system couldn't deliver the traditional form of justice. It's a testament to the strength of the human spirit in the face of unthinkable tragedy. I hope they have found some measure of peace all these years later.

Wow, this case sends chills down my spine, especially when you think about what could have been if Alvin Taylor had managed to break free all those times he petitioned for release. It's terrifying to imagine someone like him walking the streets again, considering his history. I keep thinking about the bravery police showed in connecting the dots. I mean, piecing together evidence from different crime scenes to nab a serial killer is something straight out of a movie! It's still so haunting to think about him attending Timothy Hayden’s funeral, acting like a mourner when he was the perpetrator all along. The fact that he sat there, potentially among those grieving family members, is incredibly chilling. My heart goes out to James Severson's family and everyone else affected by this man's horrific actions. Living next door to someone who can just snap like that is every person's nightmare. Hopefully, Taylor's continued confinement means justice is at least somewhat being served, but not sure if it could ever truly bring peace to the victims' families.
