On May 21, 1986, 42-year-old white male James A. Severson was brutally murdered in his apartment in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Severson, who lived next door to the suspect, was attacked by Alvin Taylor, a Milwaukee-born man who would later be identified as a serial killer responsible for multiple homicides across Wisconsin between 1985 and 1987.
