The body of 21-year-old Enid Marie Branch was found on a deserted dirt road in Hillsborough County, Florida, on August 21, 1976. She had been shot multiple times in the face. Enid was a mother to a four-year-old son, studying refrigerator repair at a Tampa trade school and working nights as a sex worker to support herself.
Her killing was one of several Tampa Bay area murders in the 1970s often linked to an unidentified assailant called the Gulf Killer, a name used in connection with multiple unsolved deaths between 1971 and 1978. In 1982 Gerald Stano confessed to Enid Marie Branch’s murder but later recanted, saying the confession was coerced; that admission has not produced a definitive resolution. No arrest or conviction has been announced and the case remains unsolved.
Did anyone in Tampa who knew Enid or her circle in 1976 see or hear anything that could help bring clarity to this case?
