Does anyone else feel deeply troubled by the role Barry Shulman played in Lori Vasquez's murder case? I keep thinking about how Lori's family had to deal with not only the loss of their loved one but also the betrayal of trust by someone who could have acted to stop it. While Robert Shulman was undoubtedly a monster, Barry's involvement in covering up for him just adds another layer of tragedy to the situation. It's appalling how he played a part in further victimizing those women by helping to dispose of Lori's body. I'm left wondering how often family members know or suspect something but stay silent. I can't imagine the pain and frustration Lori's family must have felt knowing someone could have potentially intervened. How do we even begin to address and prevent this level of complicity in such horrific crimes? My heart goes out to the Vasquez family and the other victims connected to this case.
