I've been reading about the case of Dorothy "Dotsie" Blackburn, and one thing that stands out to me is the lack of initial police resources dedicated to her case. It’s deeply concerning to think about how her lifestyle may have influenced the urgency—or lack thereof—in the investigation during those early days. She was a mother and a daughter, and despite her struggles, she deserved a thorough investigation from the start. It’s tragic that it took additional tragedies before her murder was given the attention it deserved. It makes me wonder, had her case been given the attention it needed right away, could Shawcross have been stopped sooner? My thoughts are with Dorothy's family, who lost someone precious in such a brutal way. It’s a painful reminder of the biases that can exist within the justice system, especially towards vulnerable individuals.
