On the evening of December 31, 2023, a shooting incident in the 3300 block of River Valley Lane in Memphis, Tennessee, claimed the life of 25-year-old Deonte Fletcher. The Black/African American male sustained several gunshot injuries and was privately transported to St. Francis Hospital before being airlifted to Regional One Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his wounds.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., Memphis Police Department officers responded to the scene and discovered a
Palmetto PA-15 AR-style firearm and several 9mm spent shell casings on the ground. Witnesses reported seeing a late-model black Ford 4-door pick-up truck fleeing the area after the shooting.
Known to some by the nickname '14 Tae grape,' Fletcher was described as a good son, brother, and father. His death is one of many instances of gun violence in the community.
As of now, the investigation into Deonte Fletcher's homicide is ongoing. No arrests have been made, and law enforcement has not publicly identified any suspects. The case remains open as authorities continue to seek information from the public to bring those responsible to justice.
