I’ve been following the Dardeen case for a while now, and one aspect that really gets to me is the lack of any forced entry. It’s mind-boggling to think about what that implies. Elaine and Keith were known to be cautious people, so their trust in whoever entered their home—or the intruder’s ability to gain entry without their knowledge—is terrifying. The fact that none of their valuables were taken just adds to the mystery. It seems whoever did this had no interest in material gain. How could something so brutal have roots in something other than robbery or personal vendetta? I can't imagine the anguish their family must feel, not only for their loss but for the endless questions that still have no answers. How do you make sense of such a horrific act?
