I’ve been thinking a lot about the Otero family ever since learning about this case. As much as we try to understand the brutality of it all, I can’t help but think about the community they left behind in Puerto Rico. It must have been such a culture shock to move to Wichita, and to have this happen… it’s just unimaginable. People often forget the broader impact these heinous acts have—not only on the immediate family but also on friends and extended family back home. Julia Maria Otero was dearly loved, and her connections in Puerto Rico further highlight the far-reaching grief that followed such a senseless act. My heart goes out to all those who still hold their memories close. Does anyone know if there have been any events or memorials in their honor in Wichita or Puerto Rico?
