I've been following the Golden Years Murders for some time now, and my thoughts often drift to the community's reaction during that terrifying period. Picture the fear that must have gripped the neighborhood, especially among those living alone like Martha Bolden. As tragic as her case is, it serves as a chilling illustration of the vulnerabilities faced by elderly individuals. The lack of resolution must have compounded the fear, making every shadow and creak in those solitary homes a haunting reminder of the looming threat. What strikes me most is the sense of neglect felt by the families of the Black victims. It's painful to think that racial biases may have influenced how these cases were handled. Their families deserved justice and the assurance that their loved ones' lives were valued and their deaths not invisible. I wonder if enough pressure was placed on law enforcement to treat all victims with equal urgency and respect, regardless of their race. These women, like Martha, deserved to live their golden years in peace, and it’s disheartening to know that their families might feel justice was never fully pursued.
