I keep thinking about the surveillance footage that captured the tragic final moments of Davione Collins. It's haunting to realize that this evidence shows such a callous act unfolding in real time. The fact that Collins never even got a chance to step out of his vehicle is chilling. My heart goes out to his family and friends who have to live with the reality of what happened that night. I can’t stop wondering... How did those young suspects end up in a situation where pulling a trigger at another human being, in a premeditated attack, was something they chose to do? The involvement of the juveniles is deeply concerning. This entire situation makes me think about how communities can prevent such tragedies from happening in the first place. Is enough being done to provide alternatives for at-risk youth? Those who knew and loved Davione deserve answers and justice, but I hope some larger change can come from this for everyone involved. How are we as a society addressing the root causes that lead to such violent incidents?
