I've been following the case of Michael Saye Wehdah, and my heart goes out to his family and friends dealing with such an unimaginable loss. It's tough to wrap my head around how a person who dedicated his life to serving the community could be taken so violently. The fact that he was a corrections officer makes me wonder if there was any connection between his job and what happened to him. I know the police are looking into every angle, but sometimes it seems like there’s more going on beneath the surface.
I attended the funeral, and the pain and anger among everyone there were palpable. The chants for justice were not just words—they were a heartfelt plea from a community still coming to terms with this brutal act. I can't stop thinking about his wife and son, just having reunited as a family in the U.S. It's a stark reminder of how precious life is and how it can change in an instant. Holding onto hope that justice will be served and that Michael's family finds the peace they need.
