I’ve been following the tragic case of Leroy Ramos, and it breaks my heart to hear how he was senselessly taken from his family. What struck me was how the MARTA community came together for the balloon release on January 5th. I read that not only did his fellow bus drivers show up to pay their respects, but so did passengers who regularly took his route and even strangers who were moved by the tragedy. It’s a testament to the impact he had on those around him and how deeply this loss is felt by many. It’s devastating that it takes something like this for changes to be considered for driver safety. Let’s hope the rallying cries from union reps and MARTA employees don’t go unheard this time. Bus drivers deserve to feel safe as they work to serve the community. Thinking of Monique and their three kids during this unimaginable time. Sending love and strength to them and hoping they find some comfort in the support around them.
