I’ve been following the developments in the tragic case of Bernabe "Kiko" Rodriguez, and something that really stands out to me is the history of police calls to the residence for harassment and vandalism. It’s mentioned that Kiko wasn’t involved in those earlier incidents, which makes me wonder about the dynamics of the relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Shelbie Hawk, and what was really going on behind closed doors. It’s concerning that multiple incidents were reported, yet it seems there wasn't enough intervention or perhaps oversight to prevent escalation to such a devastating outcome. It's unsettling to think about what might have been happening leading up to his petition for a restraining order. Given his previous filings and the serious allegations he made about being held at gunpoint, it feels like a lot of warning signs were overlooked. It’s so frustrating and painful to think this could have been avoided. His family’s frustration with the system is entirely understandable, and I hope that the review by the State Attorney’s Office doesn't leave any stone unturned. This family deserves clarity and justice.
