I can't stop thinking about the families of Sean and Emmanuel. It's such an unimaginable loss. I came across a post on social media from a friend of Sean's, and it was so clear how deeply he was loved by those around him. They described him as a bright light with a huge heart and a passion for music. I can't even begin to comprehend the pain his family and friends are experiencing right now—it must feel like the world just turned upside down. The fact that this violence was borne out of a gun exchange is terrifying. It makes me worry about the accessibility of firearms to youths and the choices that are made in moments of tension. I really hope that this tragedy advocates for better awareness and action to prevent this kind of situation from happening again. My heart goes out to everyone who knew these boys. I pray that they find comfort and strength amidst the grief. If any good can come from this, I hope it's a stronger community support system and more proactive measures for youth safety.
