I've been thinking a lot about the increased need for mental health resources, especially after hearing about what happened to Athena Marie Passidakis. It’s so painful to think about what her friends, family, and the entire community at Chico State are going through right now. She was clearly a bright young woman with a promising future, and it just makes the whole situation feel even more tragic. I read that the university is offering support for those impacted, which is absolutely crucial. It’s making me wonder how often signs of troubling behavior might go unnoticed in people like Alvin Wilson, who seemed to have no previous incidents of criminal behavior. It's a reminder that sometimes people hide their struggles until they manifest in catastrophic ways. As we continue to process this, I'm hoping it prompts more conversations around supporting mental health initiatives everywhere. My heart goes out to everyone affected.
