Did anyone else find it odd that the visit to see Kamelia was moved from the California Department of Social Services to an amusement center? It seems like a huge red flag, especially given the circumstances. How did Derek get permission to do that? Usually, supervised visits are quite strict with their guidelines. Was this a common occurrence or a one-time thing? I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with these types of arrangements. This change in location might have been the perfect opportunity they needed to vanish. It makes me wonder if there were any lapses in protocol on the agency's part. Any thoughts?

Has anyone else looked into the reports about the Funland amusement center's security protocols back in 1999? I find it odd that the visit was moved there without proper supervision. You'd think there'd be more stringent checks or some kind of oversight given the situation. Also, I'm curious if there were any witnesses at the amusement park that day. You'd imagine someone saw something with so many people around. It just seems strange that Derek and Helen could disappear with Kamelia so easily. Does anyone know if authorities ever released a description of the vehicle they might have used that day?

Hey everyone, just came across this case and I'm really curious about the Funland amusement center angle. Does anyone know if there were any witnesses at Funland who might have seen Derek and Helen with Kamelia? I feel like there must have been other families or staff around who could’ve noticed something unusual. It’s such a public place; you’d think someone would have picked up on the tension or seen them leave. The fact that their switch of location was approved sounds a bit off to me. Were there any checks or protocols in place at the time to handle these supervised visit changes? Seems like a pretty big loophole if moving to a more crowded location was permitted without more oversight.
