I’ve been reading up on the tragic case of Agnes George and the other women impacted by "The Day Stalker," and something that's really stuck with me is how vulnerable they were due to living alone. It's unsettling to think about how these attacks happened in the middle of the day, where you’d assume someone would notice or step in. Agnes and others didn’t have family living with them, which must have made them feel really secure in the sense that they didn’t have to worry about younger folks, but then to have that be a factor in their victimization is so cruel. It’s a relief to know Lynch was caught and convicted, but it makes me wonder about how we can better protect the elderly who live alone. This case is a sober reminder to check in more often with elderly neighbors or family members. If something seems off, it could make all the difference. My thoughts go out to the families who had to navigate the horror of those months and to all the friends and neighbors who were affected.
