I've been thinking a lot about the implications of the DNA evidence in Geralyn "Sissy" DeSoto's case and how it ultimately played a crucial role in identifying Derrick Todd Lee as her killer. It's so disturbing to think about what might have happened if the technology hadn't advanced to the point where they could pinpoint his involvement. The fact that initial profiling steered the investigation in the wrong direction for so long is both frustrating and a little eye-opening about how complex these cases can be. It's honestly terrifying to think about how many wrong paths police can wander down before new evidence brings clarity. I can only imagine the emotional toll this must have taken on her family, waiting for answers and justice amidst so much uncertainty. Hopefully, the advancements in forensic science will continue to improve so that other families might get the closure they deserve without such painful delays. My heart really goes out to them and all the other families impacted by Lee's crimes.
