Does anyone else find it surreal how Anthony Jackson went undetected for so long? Damaris Synge Gillispie and the other victims deserved better from the justice system. It’s so unsettling to think about how many young women were at risk during that time. Thinking about Damaris and her family makes me wonder how they coped with such a sudden loss. I hope knowing that Jackson was eventually caught and faced justice provides some small measure of comfort to the families. It's just deeply upsetting to reflect on how Damaris's promising life was so abruptly cut short. Has anyone come across personal stories or memories about Damaris? I think it’s important to honor her memory by sharing who she was, beyond being a victim of such a horrific crime.

Hey everyone, I've been diving into the details of the Boston Hitchhike Murders, and I can't stop thinking about Damaris Synge Gillispie's story. One thing that really stands out to me is the journey her family had to make, emotionally and physically. Losing someone in such a violent way is unimaginable, but to have it happen far from home — from Columbus to Boston — must have been extra challenging. The logistics of bringing her back to New York for her resting place in Central Cemetery would have added another layer of heartache to an already devastating time. I wonder how her family remembers her today and how they've managed to cope over the years. It's poignant to think about the community in Orient, Suffolk County, where she's laid to rest, providing some solace and a place for loved ones to visit and remember her. My thoughts are with them and all families affected by those terrible events. ? Remembering Damaris and all the young women who tragically lost their lives during that time. Stay safe out there, everyone.
