I was reading up on the case of Ivan Jerome Hill, and I've been thinking about how terrifying it must have been for the communities along the 60 Freeway during those years. Cheryl Sayers and the other victims weren't just names or statistics; they were part of families and communities who lived in fear not knowing if the killer would strike again. It's chilling to think about how he taunted law enforcement with those phone calls, seemingly enjoying the chaos he caused. I'm grateful that advancements in DNA technology eventually led to his capture—it's a relief to know that science and persistence can bring some form of justice, even if it took ten years. My heart goes out to Cheryl’s loved ones and all the families affected by Hill’s horrific actions. They must carry the weight of these losses every day. Hope when the case was resolved it helped them in some way to find a sliver of peace amid their grief.

I've been thinking a lot about Cheryl Sayers and the other victims of the "60 Freeway Killer," and something that really sticks with me is how vulnerable these women were and how Ivan Hill preyed on that. It seems there were so many missed opportunities along the way to catch him sooner, which could have prevented more suffering. It's frustrating to realize how sometimes, the system fails those it should protect the most. Cheryl didn't deserve what happened to her, and I just hope that now, with the case solved, there can be some push for stronger efforts in missing persons cases, especially for marginalized communities who often get overlooked. Sending love and strength to all the families who had to live through this nightmare—your loved ones will not be forgotten.
