Hey everyone, I've been diving into the John 'Jack' Hanrahan case lately, and I can't shake how impactful it must have been for the community in Topeka. One thing that's been really sticking with me is the role of the media back in 1979. Imagine nearly 70 news stories in just a few months! I think about how that constant media presence must have affected Jack’s family and friends. They must have been inundated not only with worry and grief but also with the pressure of being in the public eye. I imagine that living with such visible, documented sorrow only adds another layer of trauma. Has anyone explored how this kind of media coverage can shape the healing process for a victim’s family? It seems like in cases like this, they're caught in this endless cycle of trying to process what happened while being reminded of it daily in the papers.
