Has anyone else been following the Gillis case and thought about how Marilyn Nevils' friends and family have been coping all these years? I can't imagine the pain they’ve endured, especially given the gruesome nature of her murder and the fact that it took so long for them to have any closure. The discovery of her body must have been unimaginably distressing, and then to learn that she fell victim to such a heinous predator like Gillis is just...unbearable. It’s a stark reminder of the reality faced by those left behind after such tragedies. Their courage to stand through the trial and witness Gillis receiving his sentence is remarkable. I hope they’ve been able to find some measure of peace, though I know it can't ever be complete. What are your thoughts on how victims' families cope throughout such long investigations?

Does anyone else find it incredibly chilling how Sean Vincent Gillis chose the locations for disposing of his victims' bodies? Learning that Marilyn Nevils's body was found near the Mississippi River, just a stone’s throw from Gillis’s own home, resonated with me. I've been thinking about how brazen and calculated he was, using familiar places to cover up such horrendous crimes. It's deeply unsettling to think about what Marilyn went through and how close she was to potential safety, yet so far because of his twisted mind. My heart goes out to Marilyn’s loved ones who had to deal with such a horrific loss. I hope they have found some semblance of peace knowing that Gillis could no longer harm anyone else after he was caught.
