I've been reading through the old case files on Bernard Eugene Giles, and one thing that sticks out to me is how pivotal the accounts of those two brave teenage girls were. It's chilling to think about the narrow escape they had from such a dangerous predator. Their courage and quick thinking played such a crucial role in getting Giles off the streets. It's heartbreaking to think about the fear they must have felt, but their bravery helped bring justice not just for themselves, but also for Paula Hamric and the other victims. The thought of them coming forward amidst such trauma is touching and truly commendable. If anyone else has more details on their involvement, I'd love to learn more about how their actions assisted the investigation.

I've been following the case of Paula Hamric and other victims for a while now, and I want to touch on the impact Bernard Eugene Giles had on the community back in 1973. When Giles was finally apprehended, it wasn’t just a relief for the families of the victims but also for everyone in Titusville and surrounding areas. Imagine the fear and anxiety people must have felt, especially young women, knowing there was someone out there targeting them while doing something as innocuous as hitchhiking, which was common back then. I think about Paula and all the things she might have accomplished had she not crossed paths with Giles. I can only hope that her family found some semblance of peace after his arrest and sentencing. It must have been some comfort knowing that Giles was no longer a threat, thanks in part to the bravery of those two teenagers who managed to escape him. Their courage, I'm sure, not only saved themselves but also countless others from a similar fate. It’s an awful part of history, but their actions helped bring justice to Paula and the other victims.
