I'm really thinking about Matthew Bowman's mother today. It's haunting to consider the last time she saw her son at the train station, likely worrying about his court date but never imagining the horror that awaited. The impact on a family when a loved one disappears like that is unimaginable, especially at the hands of someone like Gacy. Beyond the brutality of Gacy’s crimes, Bowman's story represents the terrible uncertainty and fear that the families faced during that time, wondering about their missing loved ones. My heart goes out to his sister as well, who probably spent those days between his disappearance and the terrible discovery hoping for his safe return. It must have been devastating to learn the truth about what happened to him. I hope they found some measure of peace knowing that justice was served, no matter how small that comfort can feel.
