I just came across Lanette Deyon White's case, and I can't shake the sense of loss for her and the others whose lives were taken way too soon by Wayne Adam Ford. It’s awful to think about how much potential and joy was stolen from them, especially Lanette, who was only 25. What I find particularly disturbing is the way Ford seemed to disconnect from his actions until he turned himself in. Carrying that piece of evidence to the police is something that’s going to haunt me for a long time. I can’t imagine the kind of pain her family must have felt learning about the gruesome details. I hope Lanette’s family has found some measure of peace over the years. If any relatives or friends of hers are reading this, I hope you know that there are people out here who think about Lanette and the horrible injustice she suffered. Her life mattered, and she won’t be forgotten.
