Has anyone else looked into the train schedule between Victoria and Edna around the time of Deputy Brugh's murder? I've been curious about how the suspect managed to get a weapon after being apprehended. Were there any delays or other factors that could have given him the opportunity? It's chilling to think about the risks officers face every day, and my heart goes out to the families of Deputy Brugh and Sheriff Wharton. This case reminds me of how quickly routine procedures can turn deadly, and I hope this thread can shed more light on the challenges they encountered that fateful day. Maybe there are lessons here that can prevent future tragedies.
I recently stumbled across the old case involving Deputy Frank W. Brugh, and one detail has me truly baffled: how did the suspect manage to get hold of a gun while being transferred to jail? It's really troubling to think about the protocols back then (or perhaps a lack thereof) for prisoner transport. I can't help but wonder if security measures have changed significantly since those days. It's so disheartening to know that such a brave officer lost his life under these circumstances, and Sheriff Wharton, too, was put in such peril. My thoughts are with the families of both officers and all those affected by this terrible event. It's a stark reminder of the unpredictable dangers faced by those in law enforcement, even over a century ago.
