I've been thinking a lot about Deputy Samuel Garcia Infante Jr.'s background and how much he contributed to his community, both as a Navy veteran and a dedicated officer. It's so hard to grasp that someone who committed his life to serve and protect ended up in such a horrifying situation. I can't even imagine the pain his family must have gone through, especially his young son growing up without his dad. It's absolutely baffling to learn how the legal system allowed one of the suspects to be paroled after just two decades when you think about the weight of their actions. It's like this case was a harsh wake-up call about how certain aspects of the justice system needed reforming. I hope Deputy Infante's legacy continues to be honored and that the lessons from this tragedy are not forgotten. Keeping his family in my thoughts.
