I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredibly swift and brave actions of the surviving deputy during the tragic incident where Chief Deputy Sheriff Ken Norris Meister was lost. In such a chaotic and dangerous situation, their ability to return fire and apprehend the third suspect speaks volumes about their training and composure under pressure. It's a somber reminder of the split-second decisions officers must make in the field, and this deputy's quick thinking likely prevented further loss of life. I can't imagine the impact this must have had on him, and I hope his community continues to support him as he processes this traumatic event. We owe so much to the officers who put themselves in harm's way every day. Sending thoughts to both the Meister family and this deputy as they navigate their paths forward.
