I've been thinking a lot about Vickie Bivins Bowen's family and how they had to navigate such a devastating loss. It must have been incredibly difficult for her son Joey, her parents, and her sister Terri Lynn to process all this. Imagine having to cope not only with the loss of a loved one but also seeing the person responsible for it brought to justice in such a public way. It’s a double-edged sword, really. Justice is served, yes, but it’s still a constant reminder of an unimaginable tragedy. I hope their memories of Vickie bring them comfort and that they’ve found some form of peace since this nightmare began. It’s important we keep these kinds of stories alive, reminding ourselves how crucial it is to address domestic violence and substance abuse before they lead to such irrevocable tragedies.
