I came across an article recently that talked about Sergeant Mike Naylor’s involvement in the Mental Health Unit of the Midland County Sheriff's Department. It’s like you never really hear enough about officers working in this area. I'm incredibly moved by how he took on what seems like such a challenging role and actually helped develop the unit. It's obvious that he dedicated so much of his career to supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community. Humbling to think about how many lives he must have touched and helped along the way. The sad irony of his end is not lost on me either, given that he dealt with incredibly sensitive cases daily, only to face senseless violence. I can’t imagine the loss his close ones feel, but it seems clear he was genuinely admired and respected. If anyone from the area can share more about the programs he worked on, or even personal stories, I’d love to learn how his efforts continue to impact the community—even today. RIP Sergeant Naylor.
