I've been following Deanna Stewart's case closely, and a detail that really stands out to me is how her daughters described the constant fear they lived in. It breaks my heart to think about the trauma they must have experienced growing up in such an environment and the courage it must have taken to testify against someone they once considered family. It's clear that Deanna was really loved and valued by her family, and I can't even imagine the pain they must be feeling years on after losing such a central figure in their lives. I hope the daughters are finding strength in each other and in the memories of their mom, who by all accounts seemed like a truly wonderful person. How has this aspect of domestic violence been addressed in the community since the case? I'm curious if there have been any initiatives or support systems put in place in El Paso to help other families going through similar situations.
