It's been over seven years since Soña's tragic passing, and I can't stop thinking about the impact this has had on her family, especially her daughters. I recently came across a story shared by one of her close friends about how Soña had a tradition of taking her girls out for a special breakfast on their birthday. I can't even imagine how Soña's daughter must feel, having her birthday forever linked to such a terrible day. It's a stark reminder of how domestic violence can shatter lives in unexpected and devastating ways. I hope that those who knew and loved Soña, especially her daughters, have been able to find some form of healing and peace. Their strength in the face of such tragedy is truly admirable.
